Stately Home duties for a Teupen Access Platform
Lanhydrock House & Gardens located near Bodmin is a late Victorian
country mansion
surrounded by formal gardens and a wooded estate
covering some 930 acres and is tended by a team of gardeners
under the leadership of head gardener Nigel 'Tommy' Teagle.
There has been a trailer-mounted platform on the estate for
some 20 years but it had come to the end of its useful life and
needed to be replaced with a new machine meeting all current
safety regulations.
Mr. Teagle had first spotted Teupen's tracked range at the annual Saltex exhibition on the stand of sole UK importer Ranger Equipment of Chesterfield and could immediately see the many benefits offered by a self-propelled platform able to reach trees in remote areas of the estate with ease.
Since taking delivery of the machine, its cross country ability
has proved a real bonus when compared with the old unit which
had to be man-handled most of the time because the towing vehicle
was either not able to cross the often sloping terrain or would
have caused unwanted ground damage.
According to Mr. Teagle: "The Leo15GT met all the criteria
for our application and, besides being used on the Yews, is also
extremely useful when we need to prune a variety of climbing
plants on the house itself and other general high level maintenance
tasks such as cleaning out gutters."
Besides its near 15 m working height, the Teupen Leo15GT offers
a lateral outreach of 6.40 m and a very compact jacked area of
just 3.65 x 2.65 m making it easy to set-up in confined areas.
In addition the machine folds up to a transportation width of
just 780 mm, which enables it to pass through a standard doorway
if required, and its rubber tracks exert a ground pressure of
only 4.75 N/sq cm.
