Teupen Tracked Platform comes to the rescue
of English Heritage
A Teupen Leo 23GT access platform, on hire via Ranger Rental Partner
Forrester Access of Cheltenham, has been able to minimise the expense
of a full gutter clean and roof inspection at historic Dore Abbey
in Herefordshire on behalf of English Heritage.
English Heritage understands that regular maintenance of historic
buildings is the key to reducing the amount of future major repair
work when costly, long term hire of scaffolding would be required.
According to Rob Forrester, the track mounted Leo 23GT was the
only machine capable of tackling this delicate job because it
had the ability to pass through a 1 m wide by 2 m high lichgate
at the Abbey entrance and travel across very variable terrain
whilst avoiding gravestones.
Also, as the Teupen platform can operate at its full 11.2 m
outreach even with its stabiliser legs set at just 2.3 m width,
it was possible to safely set-up the machine close to the Abbey
walls, even on sloping ground.
Imported by Ranger Equipment of Chesterfield in Derbyshire,
the Teupen Leo GT features a 23 m maximum working height plus
up and over reach of 12 m thanks to an innovative telescopic
bottom boom. In addition, its unique and patented corner mounted
cage allows continuous 180 degree rotation to enable precise
placement for the job in hand.
Power is provided by a Kubota 2-cylinder diesel engine developing 8.9 kW (12.1 hp) or an optional on-board battery system for inside working.
